In Revelation 3:20 (KJV(, Jesus said, "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and sup with him, and he with me."
For years, the focus of that verse for me had been my responsibility to hear His voice and open the door. The emphasis was on my response.
I totally missed the awesome truth that the God of the universe is wanting to have dinner with me, and is diligently knocking at my door, longingly asking to come in.
Maybe that should have at least equal footing with the weight of my response. In fact, if I truly understand this, my response will be a given.
