My Walmart Experience

A while back, I was trying to purchase a booklight for Shirlene and was having difficulty finding the book section at Walmart.

Walking back and forth, a Walmart associate in her 70s, stocking some items in a nearby aisle, asked me, “Can I help you find something?” I told her I was looking for the book section, and she said, “You’re about 15 miles in the wrong direction. Come with me, and I’ll show you.”

She started walking, with a heavy limp, in the opposite direction. I assured her I could find it if she pointed me in the right direction, but she kept walking. So, I followed and arrived to find the section I wanted. As I thanked her for her tremendous customer service, she began walking back to the opposite side of the store and said, “That’s what I’m here to do. Help our customers.”

When I returned to my truck, I had so many convicting thoughts. What if every time I walk into a church, I would look for opportunities to serve my fellow worshipers? What if I saw opportunities to help other drivers when in congested traffic? What if, when walking in the door of my home, I looked to serve my family?

God notices when we serve others! “For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.”(Hebrews 6:10). Don’t miss it, and don’t forget it! We show our love to Him by caring for others.
