Our Finest Moment

In the movie "Apollo 13", NASA works tirelessly to bring the Apollo spacecraft and its three astronauts back to Earth safely after an oxygen tank explodes in the service module just two days into the mission, creating an almost impossible challenge.

During the movie, a team member outlines all the issues to a senior official, who remarks, "This may be the worst crisis NASA has ever faced." At that moment, flight director Gene Kranz interjects, "Respectfully, sir, I believe this will be our finest moment."

That last statement epitomizes the trust we, as believers, have in God. We recognize we are not exempt from struggles, heartaches, betrayals, sickness, or loss. But rather than believing life's difficulties “could be the worst disaster” we have experienced, we trust that this is “going to be our finest hour.”

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28 NLT)

That is why we sing:
I trust in God, my Savior
The One who will never fail.
I sought the Lord
And He heard, and He answered
That’s why I trust Him.
