Hamsters and Friends

Did you know that in Switzerland, it is against the law to own only one guinea pig? That’s right. According to an article by Michele Debczak on the website Mental Floss, “denying your pet guinea pig the chance to make friends with members of its own species” is an act of cruelty in Switzerland. This has even given rise to a new industry, “Rent-A-Guinea-Pig”, in case one of your’s dies, you can provide a partner for your lonely guinea pig.

As one with a few years on his odometer of life, the older I get, the more I value the people who have been my friends through the years. My lifelong friend, Kerry, who, after sixty years, we call or text and laugh with one another. My friend, Scott, who always gives encouragement, and I know, prays for me. For the last thirty years, Mike has made me feel like I’m the best, even when I know that’s a slight exaggeration (okay…it is a huge exaggeration).

As I ride the downhill mountain of life, I look back fondly on those of you who have been my friends, from the closest to the casual. You have made this journey more enjoyable.

And it’s not over yet! I hope to enjoy more moments with my current friends and make new ones.

“A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.” (Proverbs 17:17)
Who have been loyal friends on your journey?
