Novelist Carolos Ruiz Zalón wrote in “The Shadow of the Wind”, “Some things can only be seen in the shadows.”
Psalm 139:12 (NIV) declares, "Even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you." The Hebrew term 'choshek' in this verse signifies not just darkness, but also mystery, obscurity, and a lack of understanding.
We all have events in our lives that cast a shadow over our ability to comprehend why it is happening. In these moments of 'choshek', our faith is often refined, and our reliance on God grows.
Shadows are often opportunities for spiritual growth and deeper communion with God. In your own “choshek”, remember for there to be a shadow, there must be a light.
