The Power of Service

Abraham tasked a servant to find a wife for his son, Isaac, sending the servant on an intriguing journey. The servant could have looked for someone beautiful, rich, or charming. Interestingly, he chose to look for someone who had the heart of a servant. “If she says, ‘Yes, have a drink, and I will water your camels, too!’—let her be the one….” (Genesis 24:14)

Rebekah didn’t go to the well that day thinking she would become a part of the great lineage of the Hebrews, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Little did she know that her gift of hospitality would fulfill the purpose of God, not just for Isaac, but for the world.

You never know what a small act of humility may accomplish, not only for yourself but for the multitudes around you. “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!" (Hebrews 13:2)
