A Time For Every Delight

On March 18, 2024, the New York Post told the story of Madeline, a 9-year old from Benton, Arkansas, who had a cool moment. She found a pink grasshopper while walking to her family barn. “When I was littler I saw one in a book,” Madeline told a local newsstation. “I thought it would be cool to have.”

For the average person, a grasshopper wouldn’t catch our attention, but for Madeline, it was like finding a diamond. Entomologists say that only 1% of grasshoppers are pink.
I wonder how often we overlook small things, that, if we took the time to notice would be really “cool”? I love the way the Amplified Bible states Ecclesiastes 3:1: “There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven.”

We often focus on the first part of that verse, but I love there is “a time for every delight”. I want to discipline myself today to take time for a delight under heaven. How about you?
