Honoring Our Past Leaders

On Saturday, after securing their spot in the championship game, Purdue coach Matt Painter paid tribute to the long-time Purdue coach, Gene Keady, who was present at the game at the age of 87. Keady coached the Boilermakers for 25 years and was very successful, yet never made it to the Final Four.

On Monday, UConn Coach Dan Hurley brought Jim Calhoun to the platform when the Huskies were presented the Championship trophy. Calhoun, who is 81, started a run of National Championships for the team. Even though Hurley distinguished himself as a coaching legend by winning back-to-back national championships, he wanted to ensure that the man who started the run was there.

Hebrews 13:7 (NLT), “Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.”

In our pursuit of excellence and relevance, may we always remember the giants who came before us. You never go wrong honoring our heroes of the faith.
