Little Is Much

Can you guess the world’s largest producer of tires? Goodyear? Firestone? Michelin? Would it surprise you to know it is…Lego? That’s right. The snap-together block company creates over 300 million tires annually for their models (www.cnet).

In a world that often celebrates the extraordinary, it is easy to overlook the impact of the ordinary. But it shouldn’t surprise us that God often anoints the ordinary. Remember Gideon? How about the woman who gave her little in the offering yet is commended by Jesus? Or the little boy with five loaves and two fish?

Or how about the mustard seed? “Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” (Matthew 17:20 NLT)

Are you feeling unnoticed today? Insignificant? Unimportant? Who knows? Perhaps today, God will publicly recognize your previously unnoticed contribution to His Kingdom. And if not today, be assured. One day, you will hear Him say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

After 40 years in full-time ministry, I try to see how the little things in life speak big things about God. This blog is an attempt to share with you the many ways I see the love of God in the ordinary things of life.
