My Name is "Mine"

Have you ever noticed how many great movie lines are declarations of identity? “I am Spartacus!” “I am your father.” “I’m the king of the world!”

There is a motivation within each of us to be able to declare our identity. Because of my name, I can identify as a member of a tribe, the Stones. Because of my age, I can identify with the AARP crowd. Because of my height, I can identify with the “don’t fit in airline seats” group.

But I love how Christine Caine, in her book “Undaunted,” parses Isaiah 43:1. While her punctuation may not be accurate, the concept is wonderful. She provides us with the greatest descriptor any of us could desire. Today, I pray that you will claim it, embrace it, and be encouraged by it.

“I have called you by name; you are… ‘Mine’.” (It actually says, ”I have called you by name; you are mine.“)

What better name could God give you than “Mine”?

After 40 years in full-time ministry, I try to see how the little things in life speak big things about God. This blog is an attempt to share with you the many ways I see the love of God in the ordinary things of life.
